AANA withdraws financial support to the APSF

This past week the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Board of Directors decided to no longer provide financial support to the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF). This 2018 WHO standards policy, unanimously approved by the countries represented in the United Nation’s World Health Assembly, provides countries with guidance on how to improve anesthesia patient safety globally. ASA and the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists championed the acceptance of this important patient safety document… Read more

Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) bid for this State contract to provide physician peer assistance (as we have successfully done since the first offering in 1991).  Within the bidding process CPHP became aware that the State was asking to eliminate the confidentiality afforded physicians and physician assistants who seek care… Read more

Responding to ‘Just Hire CRNAs, It Will be Cheaper and We’ll Still Get the Same Services!’

“The purpose of this article is to provide you with an objective response to the perception that anesthesiologists and CRNAs are the same, and hence, in staffing models they can be substituted without consequence.  We will show how this belief of equivalency is just like an optical illusion…On first glance, one sees one thing, but with deeper examination and understanding, one sees reality.”
